ICC FEEDS, ANNIVERSARY MASS, VETERANS DAY
Rain, rain, go away... Did you know that some of the most important events in the Church occurred in the rain? God, in His infinite wisdom, wants us to make the most of every day - whether it is sunny or not, whether times are good or not, whether we have troubles... or not. We are called to be holy and to greatness in Him. Troubled times call us to greater Faith - not less. With God, we have everything.
Today is the Feast of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. I leave you with a few of her words before we move on to the news. Let them sink in and take root...
“Look upon yourself as a tree planted beside the water, which bears its fruit in due season; the more it is shaken by the wind, the deeper it strikes its roots into the ground.”
St. Margaret Mary Alacoque
You've all passed the big box of food in the vestibule on your way in and out of Mass. (At least we hope you have!) Well that box - now a bin with our logo painted on it - is taking on greater importance as we roll out
All donations of non-perishable food placed in the bin go to the
St. Joseph's Food Pantry in Yonkers, NY
, thanks to the hard work of the
Sacred Heart Church "Food for the Poor" program.
Every week a volunteer from the program stops by to pick the donations in our bin, and takes them to the pantry where they are distributed to a growing number of families.
What Can You Do? We have set up a webpage with information about the Food for the Hungry Program and a
. Buy one item... or two... or as many as your heart desires, and just pop them (gently) in the bin.
If you do your shopping online
and would like to make a bulk donation because you can get more bang for your buck, you can

Wedding Anniversary Mass
Sunday at the 10AM Mass
we will remember those couples who are celebrating special Wedding Anniversaries this year. If you didn't let us know yours, no worries. Tell us now and we will keep you in our prayers. Finally, to those of you celebrating any Anniversary over 50 years of marriage - we know who you are, and we will be praying for you, too!
Sunday, October 18 - 10AM
Veterans Day provides us with a moment to stop - and be thankful for the sacrifice our servicemen and women have made for us. The
10AM Mass on
Sunday, November 8th
will be dedicated to them. If you know a Veteran, bring them to Mass that day, as well. They deserve to be saluted!
Sunday, November 8 - 10AM
We've passed the midway mark of October. As we inch closer to the election, I hear more and more people say they are scared of what is to come. Turn to the Saints for guidance, and to prayer as your sword and shield. How many times have you read the Saints' counsel to abandon worry and turn to our Lord for support? Pray. Pray for our leaders. Pray that our citizens vote with their eyes pointed upward and not inward. And, once it is all over, pray for our country, and that we may always be grateful for our lives in Irvington. And while you're at it... pray the Rosary.
Finally, thank you to the
growing group of parishioners
who pray across the street from Planned Parenthood on Tarrytown Road in White Plains, every Monday morning, from 7AM to 11AM. If you would like to join them, grab your Rosary and dress in layers. This is
is a peaceful protest. The Blessed Mother is certainly smiling upon them.
Don't forget that Sunday Mass is posted and updated Saturday afternoons on
the homepage of our website
, for those unable to attend in person. Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely Yours in Christ,
