ICC NEWSLETTER - July 26, 2019
It has been a summer of extremes - rain, wind, and heat. Needless to say, on Sundays such as last Sunday, when the air quality is poor and the temperature is very high, please remember that if you are a senior, or have chronic health conditions, you should refrain from coming to Mass. Stay home. Stay hydrated. Watch Mass on TV or on a live, online feed. You won't incur serious sin if you are truly "shut in" due to the heat.
On a lighter, summer note...
There are a lot of
famous saints over the next few weeks - St. Martha, St. Ignatius Loyola, St. Peter Chrysologus, and St. Alphonsus Liguori, to name a few. (You can find them in the bulletin.) It's like a Hall of Fame line up of Saints!
If you are named after one, go to Mass that day and ask for their intercession.
Or, take some time to read about one or two (or all), and perhaps they will "speak" to you. Did you know that in many countries around the world they celebrate Saint Days like birthdays?
have a family member named after one, have a family dinner or BBQ for them! It's a nice way to celebrate the
SPEAKING OF FEAST DAYS...
Don't forget that the Feast of the Assumption is right around the corner.
It is a Holy Day of Obligation, and a particularly beautiful one at that, celebrating our Blessed Mother.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CORNER
While (most of) you have been enjoying some rest, our Coordinator of Religious Education, Adrienne Lauer, has been planning a great Religious Education Program for our young parishioners. There will be a lot of
new activities for our students, as well as our
Your example of living the Faith by fulfilling your own obligations is the most meaningful and consistent Catechism lesson of all.
Rest assured, it is not going to be your typical year at the REP. It is going to be truly joyful for everyone.
Please keep Adrienne in your prayers. And please consider becoming a Catechist, Co-Catechist, or classroom aide. We need you! Your kids need you!
By the way,
Early Bird Registration ends Wednesday
, and the tuition savings are respectable if you register early. Don't wait. Begin the registration process here at
Modern Day Evangelization
We Christians are all called to
spread the Word
. Here is a simple way to do it. If you have a friend or neighbor that you know is Catholic, but perhaps does not attend Mass,
tell them about ICC
. Just as for some people coming to Mass is a habit, so is not coming to Mass. It might just be
that will change
way of life
. Just imagine if it is
reminder that brings their children into Faith! You will have accomplished something really wonderful.
If you know a rising First Grade family
, please remind them that if they would like to raise their children in the Faith, they should register them for Religious Education this summer.
Only children who have
completed two years of Religious formation can receive First Holy Communion
at the end of Second Grade. The same is true for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
In Other News..
The fine folks that bring you Centering Prayer every Monday evening in the Cry Room, will be taking a break in August, but they will be back in September! (Even centered folks need a good vacay!)
However, the most "centering" aspect of our life is the Mass.
and we, will be here waiting for you with hearts open.
The Rectory entrance is not the only place being spruced up for the Fall. The school gym floor now reflects the pride and love we have for ICC. Once the Fall/Winter calendar starts, you'll have your own chance to visit.
Abbreviated Rectory Hours Next Week
The Rectory Office will be functioning on abbreviated hours during the week of August 29th. Our
for this week will be
Monday - Thursday, from 10AM to 1PM
will be open from
Monday - Thursday from 11AM - 3PM
. Yes, even Rectory staff need a vacation from time to time. In the event of an emergency outside these hours, you can always contact the office at 591-7480 and and Fr. Roy or I will be able to assist you.
Finally, this year's
WELCOME BACK BBQ
will be back for its 4th consecutive year, and better than ever, because this year we are going to kick off the ICC REP year with it. We've adjusted the time to right after the Noon Mass, and we are adding games for the kids, so mark your calendars and lend a hand.
That's Sunday, September 15 following the 1 PM.
More to follow!
That's all for today. Enjoy the weekend, and see you at Mass.
Sincerely Yours in Christ,
