JOYFUL QUIZ, LAST CALLS & EARLY BIRDS
(Don't miss the quiz at the end!)
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
Do these words look familiar to you? If you attended Mass for the
Feast of the Ascension
yesterday, they probably do! With these words, Jesus Christ gave the Apostles - and in turn we His faithful - the mandate to go
spread the Word
. They did.
Now it's our turn. How do we do that?
Today's two point newsletter has two suggestions.
Next Sunday our 10AM
Mass is dedicated to our parishioners celebrating landmark wedding anniversaries. (...and wait until you see the anniversaries we will be celebrating... and these couples have never had an argument...) But we can't help but feel like we haven't heard from enough of you.
We know you're out there. Don't be shy!
Your marriage IS one of the many beautiful ways you are fulfilling Christ's request to
spread the Word
- by your example of a loving, strong marriage, to your families and the world.
So, PLEASE let us know if you are celebrating your anniversary, and send us your favorite wedding photo for the bulletin. Every marriage can use a blessing! Email the Rectory at
fill out the form here
. The catch is we need to receive your photos by Tuesday morning to make it into the bulletin.
Dust off your wedding album and give us a call!
Last week we announced that Early Bird registration is open for the REP program, and that is important so we are happy to remind you about it. However, today's message is a bit different.
We need you, whether you have no children, young children, older children, or know parents of children, to - yes - remind folks that religious formation is important.
If you know parents of rising First Graders (current kindergartners) this is particularly important as children need to be enrolled in religious formation for
BEFORE they can receive First Holy Communion. The same is true of Confirmation.
We are always sad when we have to tell the hopeful parents of a Second or Eighth Grader that their child will not be able to receive the Sacrament that year. You can help.
This is our second opportunity to spread the Word. One suggestion, one recommendation from you, is another seed planted, another life elevated. Do not doubt that you will be keeping His mandate.
Before we end, today is
the Feast of The Visitation
. Ever hear of it? Of course you have! For starters, it is one of the
Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary
... which makes today a particularly good day to pray it!
Here's some food for thought.
What person, other than the Blessed Mother and St. Joseph, was the first to know that the Word was made flesh? Did you figure it out yet? If you thought St. Elizabeth, you're incorrect. Here is a clue.
"For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leapt for joy."
Did you get it now? That's right - another baby! St. John the Baptist to be precise.
Could there be any doubt that EVERY LIFE is sacred, when an infant in the womb can recognize The Saviour?! Pray the Rosary this evening for all of those who have made, or helped someone make, the sad decision to end a life.
Have a wonderful weekend! See you at Mass!
Sincerely Yours in Christ,
